Roman Imperial: Claudius fourrée Denarius, 50-51 AD (or after), the famous DE BRITANNI triumphal arch reverse, celebrating the Roman invasion of Britain. This a base core contemporary forgery known as a fourrée (stuffed coin). Some believe these rare imitations to have been produced in Roman Britain, otherwise the product of corrupt mint officials in Rome. 2.31g. Details VF, with portions of the plating missing obverse.
