Centenarian interest. Three hand carved wooden figures, depicting interesting characters in history, each mounted on a hand engraved plinth describing who they were, each signed to rear side of plinth 'H Pepper', figures comprise 'Henry Jenkins (Born 1501, Bolton-on-Swale, Yorkshire. A fisherman who frequently swam in the river, he died in 1670, Ellerton-upon-Swale, aged 169 years); 'Thomas Parr' (Born 1483, Winnington, Shropshire. Married at the age of 80 and fathered two children, married again at 120 and fathered another child. Was painted by Rubens at the age 140, and died at the age of 152 in London. Buried at Westminster Abbey); 'Jane Scrimshaw' (Born 1584, St. Mary-le-Bow, London. She died in 1711 aged 127, having lived through the reign of eight sovereigns.), tallest 27cm approx. (including plinth)
