American Moore's Patent Firearms Co. Single Action Belt Revolver: Manufactured 1861-1863, open-frame, .32 rimfire, 5 in. octagonal barrel with the top flat marked ‘D, MOORE SEPT. 18. 1860’, wooden grips. Known as the ‘Seven Shooter’ due to its 7-shot cylinder, the barrel and cylinder pivot to the right to facilitate the loading of cartridges, losses to the grip toes, missing the under-barrel ejector rod and action at fault. These were a popular private purchase by Union officers and men during the early stages of the Civil War before production was ended due to its infringement of the bored through cylinder patent owned by Smith & Wesson, 10 ½ in. overall.
