Dutch East Indies Fabrique Nationale FN Model 1930 7.92x57mm ‘IOB’ Mauser 98 derivative Carbine, serial no. 2433, deactivated to EU standard with moving parts, 1948-9, bolt-action, receiver bridge with crisp ‘IOB’ crest, receiver marked ‘FAB NAT. D’ARMES DE GUERRE / HERSTEL – BELGIQUE’, butt with white fading stencilled initials ‘K B L’, 37 ½ in. length, together with its EU Deactivation Certificate. Between 1948 and 1949, the Dutch East Indies association ‘IOB’ (Indische Ondernemers Bond – ‘Indies Business Union’), bought 6,000 Model 1930 carbines for private security tasks, of which this is a rare survivor.
