Suffragette related silver Rose Bowl (has been repaired in 10 places (splits to rim) hallmarked HCD Birm, 1913, weighs 10oz approx - Presentation on side reads "Presented to Miss E.G. Murray from late Colleagues as a token of Esteem of her work when president of the W.F.L. (Womens Freedom League) Glasgow and to denote the granting of votes to women 14.6.18". This woman was quite a leading light in the W.F.L. She was arrested on 17th November 1913 for obstruction after attempting to address a meeting near Downing Street. She was awarded an M.B.E. in 1945 and died in 1960. Her full name was Eunice Guthrie Murray. In 1918 Eurice was the first woman to stand in a Parliamentary Election in Scotland - she stood as an Independent at Glasgow (Bridgeton) though she was unsuccessful.
