Paper ephemera, a letter regarding an extrodinary meeting of bankers, merchants and others held at Mansion House, London on 1st October 1841 regarding a million pound plot to defraud continental bankers by forged letters of credit. This plot was exposed by a Times of London correspondent on 26th May 1840. The letter has many signatures including Rothschild, Masterton, Baring Brothers, Glyn Halifax Mills and Co., Barclay, Stewart, Prescott, Wilson plus many others. An iteresting piece of Banking and Legal history. Stuck to card.
