Percussion Carbine, barrel 26" of approx 16 bore, new series side lock, 5" marked Crown over "V.R." over "Tower" and dated 1847. Military proofs to barrel, sound walnut stock with W/D arrow and "B.O." (Board of Ordnance), stockmakers mark to reverse, brass furniture. Butt tang marked "C 11217" full stocked with lovells bayonet catch. Original ramrod, sling swivels to forend & buttstock. This has every appearance of a Sappers Carbine for use in the Crimean War. A nice untouched example with minor rust and service wear.
