Rifle - a Franco-Prussian War (1870) French Chassepot Service Rifle dated 1868. Calibre 11mm. Rifle made at the Government Arsenal at Tulle in 1868. Excellent woodwork, steelwork bright with patina, numbers match on butt woodwork and barrel "G-9252". Bolt operates correctly but lacks needle guide and rubber obdurator. No cleaning rod, action marked in script "Manufacture D'Armes Tulle" barrel dated 1868, with barrel lug for Chassepot and Gras Bayonets. This Rifle saw widespread use with rear echelon troops in WW1. Obsolete Calibre, No Licence Required.
