WW1 Royal Navy officers casualty documents relating to the death of Lieut Commander W.A.C Salmond RN. William Archibald Compton Salmond had a good naval service promoted Lieut 1-10-1912. In 1920 whist captain of HMS Whirlwind he let his ship go aground and was court marshalled for his action. On the night of 20-21 March whilst in his cabin he committed suicide by shooting him self through the head. He is buried Blackwell (St Werburgh) churchyard.
