DCM GV - an extremely scarce Territorial Force DCM awarded for Mesopotamia September 1917 to '850068 Wheeler Staff Sergeant F. Sparshott 215th Bde RFA-TF'. Also entitled to the BWM & Victory Medal and TFWM, it appears there are only 2 or 3 groups with DCM / TFWM for the RFA in WW1. Citation "for gallantry at Ramadi on 28/29.9.1917, he carried out the erection of an observation ladder and pole under heavy fire, and its removal after dark from its position in front of our trenches". Home town Portsmouth. Correctly named, light wear and contact, edge brusing noted. Note: only 720 DCM's to all units in Mesopotamia 1914-1920. (1)
