BWM named (Lieut C W Bragg RAF) lived Halstead, Essex. With much research, for disobeying orders his officer rank was adjust on graduation 26/2/1918 "This officer was ordered to go up in a B.E. machine and make circuits of the aerodrome (Cranwell), instead he made a cross country flight to Essex where his home is, he landed and crashed the aircraft". Later serving with 217 Sqdn and flying a D.H.4, A7846 with 1st Class Pte E E Hunnisett as Gun Layer, Lieut Bragg was involved in an aerial combat with an Albatros on 28/6/1918 at Zeebrugge, which was driven down "out of control" into the sea. While serving with 39 Sqdn based at Spittlegate, Lincolnshire, he was flying in DH9a E967 the machine lost flying speed and crashed killing Bragg and Wren, March 1922. (1)
