Suffolk interest. Three hand carved wooden figures, depicting interesting characters in history, each mounted on a hand engraved plinth describing who they were, one signed to rear side of plinth 'H. F. Pepper', figures comprise 'Sarah Lloyd' (Was a servant at the house of Mrs Sayer of Hadleigh. In 1799 fire broke out in an adjoining building. She was accused of arson and theft, Lloyd implicated a soldier Joseph Clark, however she was hanged for the crime at Tyfen Waters, Bury in 1800. Two years later at his point of death Joseph Clark confessed he set the fire alone); 'Margaret Catchpole' (Born at Hoo, Suffolk in 1762. She was transported to Botany Bay for Horse Stealing at Ipswich. Catchpole died at Windsor Australia in 1819); 'John Harvey' (Of Pond Hall, Hadleigh Suffolk, was the leader of the notorious Hadleigh Gang of smugglers), tallest 26.5cm approx. (including plinth)
