Suffolk interest. Three hand carved wooden figures, depicting interesting characters in history, each mounted on a hand engraved plinth describing who they were, all signed to rear side of plinth 'H Pepper', figures comprise 'John Fox' (Born in Woodbridge in 1528. He went to see in his own vessel the Mary Fortune from Aldeburgh, he was captured and escaped several times in his life working for different people. Fox eventually manned his old ship to join Lord Seymour against the Spanish Armada); 'John Ruffell' (Was held at Sudbury Suffolk in 1855, he was senticed to four years penal servitude for stealing a handkerchief belonging to Joseph Smith); 'John Day' (Englands finest printer, born Dunwich Suffolk 1522. Day printed the first book of church music and the first edition of Foxe's Book of Martyrs), tallest 29cm approx. (including plinth)
